Young Artists' Showcase

We are excited to announce that Davidson Green School will be sponsoring a tent at Art on the Green that will be reserved for young artists. Qualifying participants will be middle and high school students who are serious about art. The purpose of this special showcase is to give young artists an opportunity to be featured at Art on the Green, a juried art festival featuring top-quality artwork from artists throughout the region. Young artists will be able to display and sell their art and participate in a judged competition.

In order to be selected to participate in the Young Artists' Showcase, artists will need to fill out an application and email pictures of their art. Acceptable art includes two-dimensional pieces (paintings, photography, drawings, sketches, etc), and three dimensional art (pottery, welding, textiles, jewelry, etc.). All entries must be original artwork. The deadline to submit your application is April 6th, 2020.

Art on the Green will be held on April 25th, from 10 am to 5 pm, and on April 26th, from 12 pm to 4 pm in downtown Davidson in front of the public library. Artists, or their representative, will need to drop off the art at Davidson Green School, 511 South Main Street, Davidson, NC 28036 (driveway is off of Twin Oaks Road) Monday, April 20ththrough Wednesday, April 22nd between 9:30 am and 11:00 am or between 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm. Artists, or their representative, will need to pick up unsold art at the tent at Art on the Green at 4:00 pm sharp on April 26^th. All art that is not picked up at 4:00 on April 26^th will be donated.

Artist Requirments

-The artist must be a resident of North Carolina.

-The artist must be currently enrolled in 6^th through 12^th grade.

-The art submitted must be all-original and made by the artist applying.

-The art must be suitable to display in public in a family friendly forum.

-The artist must be available at the tent for at least 50% of each day.

Application Conditions

Davidson Green School and it’s representatives retain the right to deny participation by any artist and deny displaying a piece of art. The decision to include an artist in the showcase is the sole decision of DGS representatives. The money earned through a sale will go entirely to the artist with the exception of fees accrued through the sales (for example, PayPal fees). DGS will accept cash, PayPal, and Venmo on behalf of the artists. DGS will not be responsible for stolen, lost, or damaged art. The artist assumes all risk of displaying art in public. The artist is asked to be at the showcase at least 50% of each day (can be more), but cannot engage in the sales of the art (all sales must go through DGS).

Art Samples

Please email pictures of at least three art samples as a PDF in one email to YAS@DavidsonGreenSchool.org. The pictures do not need to be the exact pieces you plan to have in the Showcase, but they should be representitive of the art you will submit for the Showcase in character, style, and size. Please put your last and first name, and art medium as your subject line. Example:
