2022 Winter Session II

Welcome to the Winter Session II 2022 - HOMESCHOOL CLASSES!

Students will spend five weeks exploring many aspects of veterinary medicine in a hands-on, interactive way.  All lessons will be taught at an age-appropriate level. Our classes are perfect for all students, Pre-K through 12th grade, who love animals, science and learning.

This session will run from the week of: February 14th  through the week of March 14th

Check out this session’s class schedule:

Week 1

Philanthropy: Giving is good for you. The veterinarian world is filled with opportunities to give back and help animals. When we help others it activates the areas of the brain associated with pleasure, social connection and trust.  Join us as we begin a very special project to give back to the animals!

Week 2

Microscopes 101:  Microscopes are invaluable tools to a veterinarian.  Students will learn about what microscopes are and what they do to assist veterinarians practice medicine.  Students will have the opportunity to use actual microscopes during this lesson! Older ages will learn the process for creating real slides, younger students will learn how to use the microscope to observe premade slides and then recreate what they see!

Week 3

Urinalysis: Spilling the T on Pee: Students will learn the importance of urine testing in veterinary medicine. Students will have fun making models of urine crystals and examining real samples under the microscope!

Week 4:

**Pre-Vet Techs, Little Vet Techs, Ready Vet Go** Differences & Similarities

Veterinarians need to know how to provide medical care for every type of animal! How can a vet treat both a cat and a lion? Today we will learn how that is possible, by learning the difference and similarities of each animal; we will work through a fun program of discovering how different and similar animals can be!

**Residents, Interns** Euthanasia: Students will explore this dificult and important aspect of veterinary medicine with an informative discussion.

Week 5

Photography 101:  It’s photo time! Learn the ins and outs of how to photograph pets through the eyes of a photographer. Learning how to properly compose your pictures is the name of the game to make interesting and fun photos!  Children will leave with Polaroid keepsakes!
