Each $15, 1-hour class includes a fun lesson and

animal interaction time with our friendly live animals!


Wednesday 10/14

Morning Classes:

10-11am Zoonotic Illness: Certain diseases cross species. Veterinarians keep people safe by controlling disease in animals. This lecture will focus on types of zoonotic disease and outbreaks and how to control these diseases.

11am-12pm Intro to Dentistry: Veterinarians can do a wide array of dental procedures. Students will learn about the basics of veterinary dentistry, including common ailments, tools, and procedures.

12-1pm  Talk with the Animals: Today we will discuss how vets communicate with animals using our most important tools, the 5 senses of the nervous system. We will view x-rays, examine specimens, and interact with a variety of rescued pets.

Afternoon Classes:

Monday 10/19

10-11am Bandaging 101: Why do veterinarians use bandages? Students will discuss the reasons for bandages, learn how they are used in veterinary medicine, and practice basic bandaging skills on stuffies! 

11am-12pm Dr Dana Case Studies #1: In this class, students are the veterinarians! They will examine case studies (from actual patients of beloved vet Dr. Dana) and determine diagnoses and course of action for these sick and injured patients at the veterinary hospital.

12-1pm  Animal Restraint Lab: Students will learn how and why veterinarians and vet techs must restrain their patients during an exam or procedure. Students will have the opportunity to see how restraining an animal can actually help keep them calm and safe.

10-11am Babies! Babies! Babies!: Who can resist animal babies? This class will teach students about animal babies within the 5 most well-known animal classes of vertebrates including: mammals, amphibians, avian, reptiles, and fish.

11am-12pm Grooming 101: Students will be hands-on learning to groom animals from head-to-toe! Brushing, bathing, dental care & nail clipping are all important aspects of pet care.  Students will have the opportunity to work on these grooming techniques with a variety of species.

12-1pm  Sloths: We see images of sloths everywhere - they have become one of the world’s most popular animals, but what do we know about these fascinating, slow-moving creatures? Join us as we explore the world of sloths!

10-11am Alternative Veterinary Medicine: Every good doctor has many tools in their toolbox to help patients. Today we will learn about non-traditional methods of healing.

11am-12pm Hedgehogs: We all know that hedgehogs are cute, but did you know that they are illegal in some parts of the US? Or that they’re largely immune to snake venom? Students will learn all this and more as explore the world of hedgies!

12-1pm  Cat Scavenger Hunt: Students embark on an adventure all around our education center as they follow clues to find fun surprises and learn about the pitfalls of life of as a an outdoor cat.

11am-12pm Bearded Dragon Basics: Dragons are real - but they’re not what you think! Learn all about these lovable lizards and what makes them so unique.  

12-1pm  Animal Adaptations: Why do hedgehogs have spines and fish have scales? Students will learn about how adaptations help a variety of species survive and thrive!

Afternoon Classes:
