Vets In Training 2022 Winter Break Camp
Students ages 5-15
During Winter Break Camp students spend their days playing with our fantastic pets in a fun group setting. Activities and lessons are developed to engage their senses and foster compassion and kindness toward animals. This connection encourages teambuilding and acceptance of their peers.
The first half of the day is all about caring for the animals and learning about their needs. Students will learn what it takes to clean up after these animals, then make animal salads and feed and water each animal.
We will always try to have lots of outdoor free time on the playground, forest hikes, and fun explorations! In the afternoon we do STEAM based lessons in animal science and veterinary care. Students are so busy having fun with animals and veterinary tools, that learning is intrinsic.
A typical camp day looks like this:
Early care is available from 7:30
The camp day begins at 9:00 (We start the day with welcome time, discussion or rules and respect, and teambuilding games. After that is animal care cleaning, salads and feeding, and animal play time.)
Lunch is typically from 11:30-12:30 (We eat inside and allow the children out for supervised play time on the playground. They are welcome to come in and out and have snack during that hour as well. We may do a nature hike through the forest with any kids who are interested)
During the afternoon we will have a lesson or activity focused on veterinary skills or animal science. We offer plenty of craft time, coloring pages, and educational worksheets based on our afternoon lesson. There may be a game associated with our theme or another lesson followed by more animal time before we begin clean up for the end of the day.
Late care is availale until 5:30
