Week 1: All Creatures Great and Small: All hands on deck! This round floor discussion will allow the children to investigate, explore, and discover the individual animals of the learning center. There will be a few animal surprises!
Week 2: Intro to Dentistry: Veterinarians can do a wide array of dental procedures. Students will learn about the basics of veterinary dentistry, including common ailments, tools, and procedures.
Week 3: Bandaging 101: Why do veterinarians use bandages? Students will discuss the reasons for bandages and learn how they are used in veterinary practice. Students will learn some key veterinary jargon to help them with this lesson.
Week 4: They Ate What? Radiology: Class II: Students love seeing all of the weird things that pets eat! In this second radiology class, we will examine more real x-rays and fascinating case studies and work together to answer the question….They ate what?!?
Week 5: Veterinary Directional Terminology: In veterinary medicine, specific terms are used to describe the locations on the body. These special terms are standard to avoid any confusion and help facilitate care. Through this fun, interactive lab, students will learn and implement these important terms.
Week 6: Restraint Lab Students will learn how and why veterinarians and vet techs must restrain their patients during an exam or procedure. Students will have the opportunity to see how restraining an animal can actually help keep them calm and safe.
Week 7: Alternative Veterinary Medicine: Every good doctor has many tools in their toolbox to help patients. Today we will learn about non-traditional methods of healing.
Week 8: Blood Cells: Did you know that not all blood is red? Some animals have blue, yellow, or purple blood! Students will learn about the similarities and differences in the blood of animals to that of our own, and learn about the components of human blood and make their own 3d blood model to bring home! Students will make their own fun 3D blood cell models to take home!
