Join us for one, two, or three classes in a row on any given day!

Each $15, 1-hour class includes a fun lesson and

animal interaction time with our friendly live animals!


Monday 1/4

Morning Classes:

10-11am Differences and Similarities: Veterinarians need to know how to provide medical care for every type of animal! How can a vet treat both a cat and a lion? Today we will learn how that is possible, by learning the difference and similarities of each animal; we will work through a fun program of discovering how different and similar animals can be!

11am-12pm Hermit Crabs:  Lots of people keep hermit crabs as pets - but just how much do you know about these little ocean dwellers? Learn all there is to know as we get up close and personal with our resident hermies!

12-1pm Medical Investigations Lab:  Put on your lab coats! This case-based learning experience will allow VIT students to think like veterinarians. Through medical investigation work, the students will be challenged to find out where an animal hurts and why.

Afternoon Classes:

 Do you know which house pet can understand an average of 165 words? Or what animal is able to pick almost any lock? Learn all this and more as we explore the incredible intellectual abilities of animals!

11am-12pm Everything Elephant:  Explore the word of these gentle giants and create a unique elephant to take home with you!

12-1pm Marine Animals:  Do sharks dream of chasing other fish?  Do whales sneeze?  Who is the principal of a school of fish?  These and many other questions will be answered as we look at our animal friends in the deep blue ocean.

10-11am Babies! Babies! Babies!  Who can resist animal babies? This class will teach students about animal babies within the 5 most well-known animal classes of vertebrates including: mammals, amphibians, avian, reptiles, and fish.

11am-12pm Sloths:  We see images of sloths everywhere - they have become one of the world’s most popular animals, but what do we know about these fascinating, slow-moving creatures? Join us as we explore the world of sloths!

12-1pm Heart Basics:  How does a heart work? Is it the same for all animals? Students will learn all this and more as we explore this vital organ and then put on our stethoscopes and listen to the different heartbeats of our Vets in Training animals!

10-11am The Facts on Ferrets:  Students will learn all about these fun and fascinating creatures with our Vets in Training educator and our friendly ferrets, Harvey and Georgina!

11am-12pm Pollination: About 1 out of every 3 bites of food exist because of our precious pollinators. Students will learn about what pollination is and why it is so important through a fun, hands-on activity!

12-1pm Animal Yoga:  It appears that the ancient yogis found imitating animals to be an enlightening experience for both the body and mind. Students will get their bodies moving as they try out some fun yoga animal poses!

10-11am Frogs are Fabulous: Students will learn about the frog life cycle with a fun, hands-on activity.

11am-12pm Snakes: Love ‘em or hate ‘em, snakes are fascinating creatures! Students will gain a better understanding of snakes and make their own cute snake to keep! 

12-1pm Bonding with Horses:  When dealing with large animals, trust is an integral part of the human-animal relationship. Students will remain safe in the schoolhouse as we take a virtual fieldtrip with Miss Jasmine to visit Miss Kelly and the horses on the farm!

Afternoon Classes:

11am-12pm Meet the Sugar Gliders:  Students will learn all about these unique creatures and get to meet Sorrel and Clementine, the sugar gliders that live at our Vets in Training Education Center!

12-1pm Animal Behavior: Anti-Bullying Workshop: Children can learn important life-lessons by studying animal behavior. Through real-life examples of non-human animal behavior, children will come to the agreement that bullying is unacceptable and that true leadership comes with demonstrating kindness, patience, empathy, and understanding.

10-11am Alternative Veterinary Medicine: Every good doctor has many tools in their toolbox to help patients. Today we will learn about non-traditional methods of healing.

11am-12pm Bioluminescence:  Did you ever wonder how a firefly glows? Students will learn all about the causes of and reasons for the fascinating phenomenon of bioluminescence and even make their own glowing creatures!

12-1pm Basics for all Living Things:  All living things require certain basic needs for survival and more importantly, good health. Students will learn and discuss these basics and design healthy habitats for different species using these guidelines.

Afternoon Classes:
