Week 1: All Creatures Great and Small: All hands on deck! This round floor discussion will allow the children to investigate, explore, and discover the individual animals of the learning center. There will be a few animal surprises!
Week 2: Wellness Exams: Just like for humans, wellness exams and preventative care are a huge part of keeping pets healthy. Students will learn the basics of a veterinary wellness exam, and then perform them on our VIT pets.
Week 3 Canine Breed Bonanza: Man's best friend comes in a variety of shapes and sizes. Different breeds have different traits that make them unique. Students will discover the amazing things each breed has to offer.
Week 4: Interactive Case Studies: Students will get hands-on and interpret real veterinary cases - putting themselves in the position of the veterinarian to help diagnose and treat animals.
Week 5: Wildlife Encounter: Learn how to conduct yourself in the presence of a wild animal. Sick, injured, and healthy animals all react differently. Students will explore what they can do to keep wildlife safe.
Week 6: Intro to Suturing Surgery is an important skill for a veterinarian to master. Learning basic needle skills are essential to veterinary medicine. Students will practice suturing techniques on our stuffed patients.
Week 7: Triage: Information is the key to excellent veterinary care. Students will learn why the triage process is so important to veterinarians in the course of their treatment.
Week 8: Zoonotic Disease: Certain Diseases cross species. Students will learn about types of Zoonotic disease and learn how outbreaks happen through a fun, hands-on lab!
