Welcome to the Spring Session I 2022!
Students will spend five weeks exploring many aspects of veterinary medicine in a hands-on, interactive way. All lessons will be taught at an age-appropriate level. Students should prepare for many special visitors AND unique activities! Our classes are perfect for all students, kindergarten through 12th grade,who love animals, science and learning.
This session will run:
Week of March 28th through the week of May 2nd
**No Regular classes on for Friday 4/15 for Passover & Good Friday, Makeup classes will be held on Friday 5/13
No regular classes Monday 4/18- Saturday 4/23 for Spring Break

Week 1
**Pre-Vet Techs, Little Vet Techs, Ready Vet Go** Seahorses: Join us to learn all about these unusual ocean dwellers and make some unique seahorse art!
**Residents, Interns** Vet Tech Skills Lab II: In this hands-on lab class, students will learn important skills like administering vaccines and subcutaneous fluids.
Week 2
**Pre-Vet Techs, Little Vet Techs, Ready Vet Go** Worms! Worms! Worms!: Through hands-on exploration and discussion students will observe the physical characteristics and habits of these fascinating little wigglers, and learn the important role they play in composting.
**Residents, Interns** Earthworm Dissection Lab:
During this hands-on lab, students will learn the anatomical similarity and differences between earthworms and other animals.
Week 3:
What Are They Thinking? Intelligence of Animals: Do you know which house pet can understand an average of 165 words? Or what animal is able to pick almost any lock? Learn all this and more as we explore the incredible intellectual abilities of animals!
Week 4:
**Pre-Vet Techs, Little Vet Techs, Ready Vet Go** Habitats & Responsible Pet Ownership: Students will look at the world’s major habitats and understand why certain animals must have that environment. Responsible pet ownership is very closely connected to an animal’s habitat—students will explore this connection.
**Residents, Interns** Basic Surgical Instruments: A surgical instrument is a specially designed tool or device for performing specific actions of carrying out desired effects during a surgery or operation, such as modifying biological tissue, or to provide access for viewing it. Over time, many different kinds of surgical instruments and tools have been invented. Students will learn about and look at the surgical instruments uses for most routine surgical procedures
Week 5
**Pre-Vet Techs, Little Vet Techs, Ready Vet Go** Reptiles are Rad!: Students will spend time with our resident reptiles and learn what makes these animals special, then create our own scaley pals!
**Residents, Interns** SOAP Notes: It may sound like a notebook full of handwashing tips, but it’s actually the standardized method for creating medical notes. Students will learn the components of proper SOAP notes and create their own based on real-life case studies!
