Session topics
Week 1: All Creatures -All hands on deck! This workshop will allow the children to investigate, explore, and discover the individual animals of our education center. We will meet and greet a variety of fun and friendly animals!
Week 2: Rodents -Students will gain an understanding of what classifieds an animal as a rodent and the roles they play in ecosystems.
Week 3: Interractive case studies -Students get to be the vets as they tackle a whole series of hands-on case studies. They will work together to study an animals history, microscopic images, lab tests, and observe real samples taken from animals at the hospital to decide whats wrong with the pet and brainstorm what to do to help.
Week 4: Restraint lab -Students will learn how and why veterinarian staff must restrain pets during exams and procedures. Students will have the opportunity to see how restraining an animal can actually help keep them calm and safe.
Week 5: Triage -Students will learn the importance of triage through role playing various scenarios that get called into veterinary offices. Students will also gain an understanding of how a vet uses triaging to diagnose and treat a pet.
