We are now offering educational lesson sets to fit your needs! 

Join us for one, two, or three classes in a row on any given day!

Each $15, 1-hour class includes a fun lesson and

animal interaction time with our friendly live animals!



Monday 2/1

Morning Classes:

10-11am Bandaging 101: Why do veterinarians use bandages? Students will discuss the reasons for bandages, learn how they are used in veterinary medicine, and practice basic bandaging skills on stuffies!

11am-12pm Ticks, Tweezers, and Prickly Things:  As veterinarians, we remove all kinds of things from patients. Veterinarians must learn to remove ticks, bot flies, and even prickly plants from their patients’ fur and skin. VIT students will learn to use their removal skills on simulated patients during this super fun and interactive lab class!

12-1pm Avian Observation: Spend some time with our Vets in Training budgies and learn about avian anatomy, and learn to identify different types of local birds!

Afternoon Classes:

11am-12pm The Facts on Ferrets:  Students will learn all about these fun and fascinating creatures with our Vets in Training educator and watch as our friendly ferrets, Harvey and Georgina party in the ball pit! 

12-1pm  Talk with the Animals: Today we will discuss how vets communicate with animals using our most important tools, the 5 senses of the nervous system. We will view x-rays, examine specimens, and interact with a variety of rescued pets.

Afternoon Classes:

10-11am Chillin’ with Chinchillas: You might know that chinchillas were used for their fur, but did you know that they were also used for food? Learn fun facts about these fascinating animals while cuddling and caring for them. Students will even paint a chinchilla portrait to hang up at home!

11am-12pm Teddy Bear Clinic:  Who doesn’t like playing doctor? Each student will bring their own teddy bear as we learn how to give a physical exam with common (safe) veterinary tools and take care of often-seen ailments. 

12-1pm  Geckos are Great: Spend some time with our resident Leopard Gecko, Domino, and learn how they are able to climb walls with a fun science experiment!

10-11am Valentine Sloths: We see images of sloths everywhere - they have become one of the world’s most popular animals, but what do we know about these fascinating, slow-moving creatures? Join us as we explore these lovable creatures and make an adorable sloth Valentine craft!

11am-12pm Valentine Hedgehogs: We all know that hedgehogs are cute, but did you know that they are illegal in some parts of the US? Or that they’re largely immune to snake venom? Students will learn all this and more as they explore the world of hedgies hands-on with our Vets in Training resident hedgehogs, and even make their own cute hedgehog Valentines to bring home!

12-1pm  Heart Hunt: Learn cool heart facts on this fun scavenger hunt!

10-11am  Wildlife Encounter: What should you do if you find a baby bunny all alone? What’s the best thing to do if you come across a bird with a broken wing? Students will learn how to conduct themselves in the presence of wild animals.  Sick, injured, and healthy animals all react differently. Students will explore what they can do to keep wildlife safe.

11am-12pm The Peculiar Platypus: Learn about these unique creatures and create a cute platypus craft to bring home!

12-1pm Canine Breed Bonanza: Man’s best friend comes in a variety of shapes and sizes.  Different breeds offer a variety of traits that make every canine breed very unique.  Look into the world of dog breeds, both big and small, to see the amazing things each one can offer!

Afternoon Classes:

10-11am Echolocation: Students will learn how bats use echolocation to navigate, and do a fun hands-on experiment to learn about sound waves!

11am-12pm Bunny Bonanza: Students will learn all about our resident rabbits Cookie, Coco, and Lulu, while handling and playing with them, then make their very own sock bunnies to take home! If you have a cool-looking (clean) sock, feel free to bring it - otherwise we will have one for you!

12-1pm  Scoop on Poop:  We all know that everyone poops - but if you think all animal poop is the same you’re in for a big surprise! Learn about the differences between various animals poop and how they make it, and how veterinarians use fecal samples to diagnose illnesses in this fun and informative class!

11am-12pm Bearded Dragon Basics: Dragons are real - but they’re not what you think! Learn all about these lovable lizards and what makes them so unique.

12-1pm  The World of Sharks: Students will learn about shark breeds, habits, and threats; and even make some fun ocean slime!

Afternoon Classes:

10-11am Prehistoric vs. Modern Animals: Are there still prehistoric animals alive today? Yes! Many animals that are alive today are descendants of prehistoric animals that roamed the earth millions of years ago! Students will learn about the prehistoric ancestors and their descendants and even make their own fossils!

11am-12pm Habitats & Responsible Pet Ownership:   Students will learn about what different animals require in their habitats and examine the habitats at our education center. They will then take what they learned to create their own imaginary animal and build the perfect habitat to suit their animal’s needs.

12-1pm  Intro to Suturing: Surgery is an important skill for a veterinarian to master. Learning basic needle skills are essential to veterinary medicine. After practicing their suturing skills, VIT students will get the special opportunity to become surgeons and learn how to close mock surgery skills and wounds on our special teaching teddy bears! **This is a very appropriate lesson; no sharp objects will be used for this skills lab.**
