Week 1: All Creatures Great and Small: All hands on deck! This round floor discussion will allow the students to investigate, explore, and discover the individual animals of the learning center. There will be a few animal surprises!
Week 2: Wellness Exams: Just like for humans, wellness exams and preventative care are a huge part of keeping pets healthy. Students will learn the basics of a veterinary wellness exam, and then perform them on our VIT pets.
Week 3 Grooming: Students will be hands-on learning to groom animals from head to toe! Brushing, bathing, dental care, and nail clipping are all important aspects of pet care. Students will have the opportunity to work on these grooming skills with a variety of species.
Week 4: CPR: CPR can save the life of an animal. Obtaining the knowledge of how to perform CPR on an animal allows even non-veterinarians to save the life of an animal they love. Students will learn how to properly perform CPR on an animal, including using a full 10 pounds of pressure while doing it!
Week 5: Heart Basics: How does a heart work? Is it the same for all animals? Students will learn all of this and more as we explain this vital organ and use stethoscopes to listen, count, and compare the heartbeats of various VIT pets.
Week 6: Dr Danas Case Studies: In this class, students are veterinarians! They will examine some of the most interesting cases from one of our own veterinarians and determine diagnoses and determine the proper course of action for these sick and injured pets.
Week 7: Careers in Animal Science: There are so many different careers to choose from when you want to help animals and work in the veterinary science world and this lesson provides all the details! Written by our own Dr. Lisa, the founder of our company, students can distinguish the difference between their different career choices.
Week 8: Mobile Vet Tech Stocking: Students will learn the difference between a veterinarian and a veterinary technician, and practice tech skills that are needed when it comes to being a mobile vet technician.
