2022 Fall Session I

Welcome to the Fall Session I 2022!

Students will spend five weeks exploring many aspects of veterinary medicine in a hands-on, interactive way.  All lessons will be taught at an age-appropriate level. Students should prepare for many special visitors AND unique activities! Our classes are perfect for all students, Pre-K through 12th grade, who love animals, science and learning.

Week 1:  Animal Adaptations

Why do hedgehogs have spines and fish have scales? Students will learn about how adaptations help a variety of species survive and thrive!

Week 2: Canine Breed Bonanza

Man’s best friend comes in a variety of shapes and sizes.  Different breeds offer a variety of traits that make every canine breed very unique.  Look into the world of dog breeds, both big and small, to see the amazing things each one can offer!

Week 3: Triage: Information is the key to excellent veterinary care. Students will learn why the triage process is so important to veterinarians in the course of their treatment. Students will have the chance to triage any animal in the VIT Education Center and present their findings to the class just like real vets!

Week 4:   Dr. Dana’s Case Studies

Be the veterinarian!  Work through animal cases created by our own Dr. Dana that include x-rays, microscopes, lab tests and treatment plans. 

Week 5: Virtual Anatomy and No Bones About It

Students will explore internal organs using the latest in virtual reality technology and learn about the skeletal system through hands-on experience.
