EuropeNow Campus Editorial Committee Application Form

The Council for European Studies (CES) invites applications from highly motivated scholars to join the Campus Editorial Committee of its flagship publication, EuropeNow.

Campus is the teaching and learning corner of EuropeNow. Its goal is to bridge interdisciplinary research with pedagogy by highlighting how educators engage students with major research questions relating to Europe. EuropeNow is a monthly interdisciplinary journal that features research, commentaries, and book reviews on Europe alongside literary nonfiction, fiction, poetry, translation, visual art, and pedagogical material from or concerning Europe.

The Campus Editorial Committee is responsible for curating and delivering teaching & learning content for the journal. It is comprised of promising young scholars or established scholars in various fields who are specifically interested in pedagogy and the education landscape. Committee members work with the Committee Chair to provide Campus content: Campus Spotlights, interviews, syllabi, students’ works, dispatches, Campus book reviews, and Campus Round-ups. They commission contributors and follow-up with the process until delivery.

The type of individuals CES seeks must be specifically excited about education and pedagogy within European Studies, as well as self-motivated, dynamic, organized, and able to engage with other scholars constructively and supportively. Each Committee member serves a 1-year term with the possibility for renewal. Please note that CES expects at least 8 commissioned items per year, or 2 items per quarter (three months period) per Committee member. The position is a service position and committee work is done remotely. Selection will be made as to ensure a suitable balance of expertise within the Committee. No prior editing experience is necessary and we encourage junior scholars who would like to get involved in editing or the publication process at large to apply.
