The Proof of Age Standards Scheme (PASS) is the UK’s national proof of age card accreditation scheme which aims to create a common standard and an easily recognisable identity to help protect sellers of age restricted goods and services from fraudulent proof of age cards.

In Scottish law, PASS hologrammed cards, including the Young Scot National Entitlement Card (NEC), are as credible as passports and driving licenses for providing proof of age.

To help retailers and the licensed trade comply with legislation, Young Scot is making available a FREE information pack for all business providing age restricted goods and services. This includes:

- A PASS awareness booklet for staff, which also doubles as a sales refusal record book
- An A3 poster to be displayed in premises which states that PASS Cards, Driving Licenses and Passports are acceptable proofs of age
- A credit card sized PASS card recognition guide for staff
- A window sticker to be displayed to indicate to young people that “PASS Cards are accepted here”
