Save Money, Energy & the Environment
Save with Energy Star Appliances

Most U.S. households spend 13% of their energy expenses
on appliances. Purchasing Energy Star qualified appliances
will save you significant money and energy over the life of
the appliance.

It is important to look at the label when
purchasing, as there is often a big difference in
energy consumption among Energy Star brands.
The "bells and whistles" offered on some
appliances increase the energy consumption and
cost.

    minimum federal standard.

Other Energy Star Appliances
  • Dehumidifiers
    The average ENERGY STAR qualified

    dehumidifier can save consumers
about $20 per year. Over the life of the
unit, that's more than $220 in savings!

  • Freezers
Appliances that have earned the ENERGY

STAR can save you $70 a year in energy
    costs, while protecting the environment.

  • Room Air Cleaners & Purifiers
A standard room air cleaner, operating

    continuously, uses approximately 550
kWh per year in electricity. This is more
than the energy used by some new
    refrigerators!

  • Water Coolers
Water coolers in homes and businesses

    consume about 6 billion kWh/year.
ENERGY STAR qualified water coolers use
about half of the energy of standard
models. This could mean a savings of
more than $200 over the lifetime of the
    unit.
2011 Federal Tax Incentives

Tax credits that were 30% up to $1,500 expired
on December 31, 2010. New tax credits were
passed, but at lower levels. Click here for a
summary of changes.

Note that not all ENERGY STAR qualified
products qualify for a tax credit.
ENERGY STAR
distinguishes energy efficient products which,
although they may cost more to purchase than
standard models, will pay you back in lower
energy bills within a reasonable amount of
time, without a tax credit.
